Ayah Marar, DJ, MC, singer, song-writer, producer, radio host. Multi talented doesn’t fully describe this astonishing talent. Ayah has achieved a consistently high quality release history that transcends multiple musical genres.
Ayah has been featured as a vocalist or writer on music from British artists including Calvin Harris, Toddla T, DJ Fresh, R3hab and Jack Peñate to name a few. Her work on ‘Thinking About You’ with Calvin Harris earned Ayah a double platinum disc.
Born in Jordan, Ayah had very little in the way of exposure to underground dance music. Moving to the UK when she was 17, she immediately proceeded to immerse herself in the drum ‘n’ bass scene. Embracing her notable talents, she employed a trait that would be indicative of her career; hard graft. She was invited to add guest vocals to tracks on Hospital Records, Metalheadz and C.I.A. She was also quickly touring Europe with DJs whilst also having her own four year DJ residency at Herbal.
Ayah quickly realised and adopted the mindset that creativity is not a 9-5. It’s not something you can switch off. It’s a driving force and a compulsion, something that artists live, daily. It’s this which Ayah understands at her very core and which she has employed from day one.
Having an innate eclectic taste for music she is not one to be restrained by genres. Her output across all styles and genres of music has been nothing short of stellar. Whether it’s delivering a crunching DJ set, spitting bars over some serious DnB, performing live or an acoustic session Ayah knows how to deliver.
Ayah has managed to organically bring together her two worlds of the underground and the mainstream. Widely respected by artists in both camps her unique talents seamlessly bridge the gap to produce memorable release after release.
It’s a matter that’s close to her heart. Huge releases with Calvin Harris, Toddla T, Yogi, DJ Fresh and Jack Peñate catapulted her into notoriety. Ayah flexed with DJ Marky, Total Science, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, Bungle and Calyx and Teebee with memorable DnB bangers. After three of Ayah’s biggest years she launched their own label, Hussle Girl. The critically acclaimed release that followed entitled ‘The Real’ showcased her remarkable talents across the electronic musical spectrum. A maelstrom of influences came together, often within the same song. Combining the underground and mainstream, allowing Ayah’s song writing technique and delivery to shine through each track.
Ayah’s talents have taken her across the world from The United States to Jordan. She has appeared at every major music festival including, Glastonbury, RAMPAGE and Let it Roll. Ayah has toured with Example, Netsky, Chase and Status and the Prototypes.
After a brief hiatus to raise a family, 2019 sees Ayah returning to the scene she loves. Drum and Bass is in her soul. She has been hard at work in the studio working on brand new material. A recent release on V Recordings with The Insiders ‘Falling Down’ has been dropping in many major players sets across the dnb world.
With Ayah on vocals ‘Falling Down’ is a straight up dancefloor stomper. A rolling, flowing dnb track the emanates the vibe and soul that she employs.
She’s back and she’s got something to say.
