Ama began her journey into music in 2008 producing IDM and electronic/instrumental music as ‘Amally Music’. In 2011 everything changed for her musically as she moved to Bournemouth and discovered her love for drum and bass. Shortly after, her skills had developed to a point where she started gaining local bookings.
In 2017, she had started making a name for herself resulting in her first booking for Outlook Festival. In 2018 her first international booking followed in Pretoria, South Africa. She was invited back to Outlook Festival later that year on the Garden Stage. Hosted by Spearhead Records and Warning x Bladerunnaz Ama played alongside DJ Rap and Kenny Ken.
Her sets are filled with passion and high energy. A b2b set with House of Hi-Fi’s Kyro at Boomtown Fair, featuring an appearance from Inja, sent a video of her dropping Benny L’s Vanta Black viral. She has also performed regularly at Enter & Drumfunk with Kings of the Rollers, The Prototypes & IC3, TNA & Pola & Bryson.
A mix for Rupture’s EQ50 drew attention to empowering under-represented artists in Drum and Bass. DJ Flight also included Ama in her Black History Month series, aimed at highlighting reputable black women in dance music. 2019 ended on another high note with Ama performing for Red Bull Open House.
Her 2020 livestream set for Heavy Sonics was noticed by UKF & Ram Records. High profile appearances on Degscast on Hospital Records, and a guest mix for Sofasound Bristol on the Hollie May Presents followed.
As one of the hottest new talents in Drum and Bass, Ama has been making moves and in 2021 you can expect the same.
