Battery have drum and bass wired into their neural synapses. They are perpetually forging new sonic pathways. By no means newcomers to the scene, Craggz and Parallel Forces have been making and releasing drum and bass under various guises for the last 20 years.
This new project – Battery – is marked by a strikingly dark and experimental sound. Signing tracks to heavyweight labels such as Metalheadz, ProgRAM and Spearhead have driven their distinct sound forward by capturing unconventional ideas with regards to rhythm, tone and structure. They hold fort in both analogue and digital techniques whilst ensuring their tracks stand up to today’s high production values.
One of Craggz & Parallel Forces first releases was for Dillinja’s mighty Valve Recordings. The double sided track – Fizzy Piglets / Thundersoul dropped and it all started from there. Battery stripped back to the roots arrangements and high production finesse caught the ear of Drum & Bass label bosses across the board. This quickly resulted in releases on Hospital, Med School, Spearhead, Renegade Hardware & ProgRam.
Goldie’s iconic label – Metalheadz – has now become the home of the duo after the release of two hugely successful EPs. Their Take 4 EP was supported throughout the industry and received critical acclaim. Several of the tracks were main stayers in many leading DJ’s live sets and on many leading radio shows.
Craggz and Parallel Forces ‘Battery’ live sets are like their music. A forward-thinking futurism that encapsulates the genre’s unmistakable roots and foundation. Under their previous guises, Battery have toured across Asia, America and Europe. They have also have laid down hugely bass-heavy DJ sets in clubs and festivals right across the UK.
