Spectral grew up in musical surroundings. As early as 7, she learned to play the piano following her father’s influence. In high school, Spectral started singing, writing and performing her own songs. By 14 she had taught herself to play the guitar and started taking performances in pubs and small music venues. It was at this time that she knew a career in music was her calling.
Whilst studying Popular Music at Falmouth University she fell in love with drum and bass. Feeling an immediate strong affinity with the genre, she decided to teach herself to DJ. She soon started DJing parties in Falmouth, playing her first sets at small local venues.
Entering the final year of her degree she decided to take her love for songwriting and composition and use it to produce drum and bass. Spectral’s experience stood her in good stead, quickly picking up the production and arrangement of tracks. Her first release was extremely well received. Her 2nd, with “Incurzion Audio”, got an amazing response, currently sitting at 11.4K plays on Soundcloud.
Spectral now specialises in all things deep, dark and minimal. Her influences come from labels such as Flexout Audio, Dispatch Recordings and 1985 Music. She has since gained recognition from UKF with 3 different articles written between 2020-2022. She was the winner of EQ50’s mentorship programme and was the Critical Music mentee for 2020-2021. Her greatly anticipated debut EP is expected later on this year.
To date, she has played across the UK including iconic venue’s Fabric and Printworks. She is set to expand throughout 2022 including her first international festival appearance at Hospitality On the Beach in June. The only way is up for this creative force.
