Subten quickly rose through the ranks of the North London Grime scene as an early member of grime collective, Shoddy Crew. Earning his stripes alongside the likes of Chip, Double S and Vertex his uniquely distinctive flow and innovative wordplay quickly brought him recognition & prominence. In 2016 he exploded onto the scene with his single ‘Mazza’ which received huge support from Sir Spyro, Melody Kane, DJ Target and Sian Anderson. This was followed by equally well received singles ‘Oh What A Shame’ and ‘Ed Edd n Eddy’.
Support for his work has been far and wide and has included Sian Anderson on BBC Radio 1Xtra, DJ Swigz on Radar Radio and DJ Kenny Allstars. Subten is uniquely talented, always looking and experiencing things from a different angle. It’s this perspective and approach to his creative art that has caught the ears of his peers and fans worldwide. He is now widely regarded as one of the most talented MC’s to emerge from grime in recent years.
Full length LP projects ‘The Subway’, Substance and ‘The Chosen One’ were equally well received. He has cemented himself into the grime culture as an innovative MC, not restricted by perceived limitations to his craft, continuing to go from strength to strength.
Always one to push the boundaries, Subten made his drum and bass debut in 2021 with the huge hit ‘Headlines’ with Whiney on Hospital Records. The track received widespread support. To date it has reached well over 1 million streams on Spotify. He quickly followed this by collabing with Dizzee Rascal on ‘Shaolin Temple’ and ‘Next To Me’ with Afreine.
2022 saw him link up with Harry Shotta on ‘Televised’ released on Shogun Audio. There is a lot more in the pipeline for this relentlessly talented MC, he feels he is just getting started./p>
